Welcome to Sahan, a mobile application developed and operated by Apps Foundry Labs Ltd ("we", "us", or "our"). These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Sahan mobile app ("App"). By accessing or using the App, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms, as well as our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines.

If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please do not use the App.

0. Purpose of the App

Sahan is a matchmaking and social introduction platform developed specifically for the global Somali community. Its features, content, and moderation guidelines are designed to align with the cultural norms, values, and expectations of Somali users.

While the App is open to users from all backgrounds, by creating an account you acknowledge that the platform is primarily intended to serve the needs and preferences of individuals connected to Somali culture.

1. Definitions

  • App: The Sahan mobile application and associated services.
  • User / Member: Any individual who registers for and uses the App.
  • Account: A personal profile created by a Member to use the App.
  • Service: All features and functionalities provided via the App, including both free and premium (paid) features.
  • Match: A mutual expression of interest between two Members.
  • Like: An action indicating interest in another Member.
  • Dismiss: An action indicating disinterest.
  • Blurred Photos: Profile images that remain obscured unless a match occurs or premium access is granted.

2. Eligibility & Registration

  • You must be 18 years or older to use the App.
  • You may register using Apple login, Google login, or email.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
  • Only one account per person is allowed.
  • You must provide accurate and truthful information at all times.
  • The App is culturally tailored for the Somali community, and users are expected to respect that context.

3. User Conduct

By using the App, you agree not to:

  • Impersonate others or create multiple/fraudulent accounts.
  • Share or post content that is illegal, explicit, abusive, discriminatory, or infringes upon third-party rights.
  • Use the App for commercial purposes, including advertising or soliciting.
  • Organise or promote offline events or gatherings through the App.
  • Use automated tools (such as bots or scrapers) to access or interact with the App.
  • Share private messages, photos, or any user information without explicit consent.
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations.

We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that breach these rules or our Community Guidelines.

4. Services & Features

Free Features:

  • Create and edit your profile.
  • Browse user profiles (photos are blurred by default).
  • Like, dismiss, and match with other Members.
  • Chat with your matches.
  • Apply basic filters and preferences.
  • Report or block users.
  • Receive in-app notifications.

Premium Features:

  • View unblurred photos.
  • Enhanced visibility in search and discovery.
  • Advanced filters and additional interaction options.

Premium features are subject to change. Full details and pricing are available within the App.

5. Account Suspension & Termination

  • You may delete your account at any time via the App settings.

  • We reserve the right to suspend or permanently delete accounts that:

    • Violate these Terms
    • Breach our Community Guidelines
    • Pose a risk to other users or the platform

  • Deleted accounts may be retained for up to 12 months to comply with legal or moderation obligations.

6. Content Ownership & Licence

  • You retain full rights to the content you upload to your profile.
  • By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to:
    • Display your content within the App
    • Use anonymised or promotional screenshots for marketing purposes (e.g., animations, public-facing profile mockups)

We do not claim ownership over your data but may remove content that violates our Terms.

7. Disclaimers & Responsibilities

  • We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or authenticity of any user profile.
  • You are solely responsible for your interactions with other Members.
  • Any in-person meetings or communications outside the App are at your own risk.
  • We are not liable for any misconduct, fraud, or harm caused by other users on or off the App.
  • You should never share sensitive personal information (e.g., financial details) without caution.

8. Platform-Specific Terms

If you are using the App on iOS:

  • You also agree to Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA).
  • In the event of any conflict between these Terms and Apple’s EULA, the latter shall take precedence for iOS users.

9. Modifications to These Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time. If significant changes are made, we will notify users via the App or email. Continued use of the App after such updates constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Legal Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising in connection with these Terms or the use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
